Senior Technical Writer

Apperian is looking for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated technical communicator with a passion for the written word and a mission to make software easier to use by creating an information experience that engages and guides customers. Your main function will be to develop and maintain high-quality technical publications that contribute to the overall success of Apperian customers. Additionally, you will assist developers with writing user interface text (messages, labels, descriptive text, tooltips). As part of an agile development process, you will work on multiple Scrum teams that include developers, quality assurance engineers, and product managers. In this dynamic role, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other functional areas, such as Customer Success and Marketing, on various customer-focused initiatives.

Position Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Be a hands-on expert in all facets and features of Apperian products.
  • Work with the development teams to document new software during each sprint.
  • Analyze requirements and produce documentation for multiple audiences.
  • Update wiki content to document new product features and enhancements.
  • Write release notes to highlight new features and summarize known issues.
  • Work with developers to maintain API documentation generated from code.
  • Write easy-to-understand user interface text and in-app messages.
  • Develop screencast videos to supplement written content.
  • Maintain and enhance the documentation architecture, exploring new tools and platforms for continuous improvements.

Required Skills and Experience

  • BA/BS degree in English, Technical Communications, Computer Science, Information Design, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years experience as a technical writer or related position.
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience producing online technical documentation for a software product.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and concern for quality.

Customer Support Engineer

Want to work for Boston’s hottest mobile startup? We need an experienced Support Engineer to work with our customers in support of our flagship software-as-a-service product, EASE, the leading Enterprise Mobile App Management platform. Apperian’s Customer Support Team is a tightly knit group with a broad set of technical skills in SaaS, mobility, web technologies, and a passion for great customer service. We work closely with the rest of the Engineering Organization to deliver a quality, reliable and secure service to our customers.

As a Support Engineer, you will contribute to the success of our customers by providing to them technical assistance in all aspects of the service.

Some common tasks will include:

  • Issue triage, troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Submitting bug reports and feature requests to Product Development.
  • Assisting with production system upgrades.
  • Providing guidance and advice to customers on their use of EASE.

Qualified candidates must have:

  • 3-5 years experience in a customer-facing technical support role.
  • Experience with mobile devices and platforms (iOS, Android, etc.).
  • Experience with software-as-a-service (SaaS).
  • Excellent troubleshooting & organization skills.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A proven ability to multitask and adapt to a fast paced environment.

In addition to the skills and experience above, any of the following will be useful in this role:

  • Knowledge of Xcode & the Apple app signing process.
