Mobile App Policies
Many customers believe that not all apps should behave the same way. For example, based on things such as user role, location, timing, and more, the app can be directed to behave differently.
Apperian’s Dynamic App Policy Framework provides customers with the most diverse set of app wrapping policies that administrators can apply directly to apps that force specific behavior and functionality depending on the policy.
The enabling technology Apperian uses is App Wrapping; there is no coding and no SDK required to implement a mobile app policy.
With a simple checkbox and form-based interface, administers can make all their apps compliant. Policies can also be stacked and work together for extremely robust security and management. Some policies are dynamic, allowing them to instantly change without needing to re-sign or redistribute the app, which results in less work and more flexibility for administrators.
Apperian provides three types of app wrapping policies:
- Security policies are those that create “self-defending” apps that protect themselves on whatever device they are running on. Policies such as FIPS 140-2 encryption, copy/paste protection, corporate authentication, app-level VPN, jailbreak detection, data wipe, app expiration, geo-fencing, location masking and app disablement provide a robust set of security measures for administrators.
- Management policies help administrators support users and keep apps up-to-date across a large number of users. The app remote control policy allows an admin to take control of an app remotely for troubleshooting and support. Self-updating versioning and update polices can force app updates as required.
- Analytic policies provide app-level insight into how apps are being used, for how long and by whom. A dashboard displays pertinent information graphically for a high-level view.
